Our Story
In 1997, Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin founded Randall’s Adventure & Training to counter the hype in the survival industry with practical tools and knowledge. They initially worked with the Peruvian Air Force’s jungle survival school (ESSEL), training clients in the Amazon. Later, they moved operations to the U.S. and launched ESEE Knives to produce high-quality field gear.
ESEE Knives began with the RTAK, a design born from real-world field experience and originally produced by Wicked Knife Company, later by Ontario Knife Company. Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin also collaborated on the Laser Strike with TOPS Knives before spending five years developing the RAT line for OKC. Their journey led to the creation of ESEE Knives—now a globally recognized brand.
ESEE’s clientele spans special operations, rescue techs, hunters, law enforcement, and serious adventurers. Their gear and survival training have been featured by the Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, and top industry publications.
What sets them apart? A no-nonsense philosophy: respect the customer, price fairly, build what works, and never teach or sell anything that hasn’t been field-tested. Every ESEE product comes backed by a legendary warranty and a team that lives the life they teach—no fluff, just real-world performance.

In Memory of Mike Perrin
Mike Perrin (July 1, 1953-Aug. 16, 2022)
Mike was many things: an industrious craftsman, an artist, and, perhaps most memorably, the funniest man in the room.
A lifelong woodworker, Mike carried the patience and precision of a true craftsman into everything he touched. That same dedication shaped ESEE Knives from the ground up, where his ingenuity helped build a brand that endures to this day.
Despite his well-known and mostly unconvincing protests about travel, Mike had a deep love for Peru. He returned time and again, and every photograph from those trips tells the same story: a man fully alive, soaking in a place that clearly meant something to him.
But if there is one thing those who knew Mike will carry longest, it is his humor. His jokes were effortless, his timing impeccable, and the laughter he sparked was never in short supply. He had a rare gift for making people feel at ease, and the joy he brought to a room was as reliable as the quality he brought to his craft.
Mike is gone, but his mark on ESEE and on the people lucky enough to know him is permanent. We miss him dearly, each and every day.
